How does it work?
A "vapour cloud" is released from the wax pool while burning. When the insect is confronted with the "vapour cloud" it prefers to move the other way. The same way you would change your position due to a foul smell. Air movement plays a big role in spatial repellency.

Can I improve the repellency?
Yes, by simply managing the "vapour cloud", the larger the cloud the better the repellency.
1) Add more candles.
2) Place candles on ground for protection at ground level.
3) Place candles amongst food for best fly repellency results.
4) Always sit in the "vapour cloud", preferably down wind.

Do I need to trim the wick?
Yes, keep wick trimmed at all times to ensure an even burn. If the flame size increases due to a long continues burn, it is best to trim the wick down to 8-10mm.

What will happen if I do not maintain the wick?
The flame size can gradually increase during long continues burns, this may result in the wick falling over. By simply trimming the wick back the issue will be resolved.

Does the candle's fragrance influence the effectiveness?
No, we have successfully combined our natural repellent with delightful fragrances to offer you a variety of scented candles. Each candle contains the same amount of active ingredient for repellency. Let's face it, repelling insects in style is far more enjoyable.

Is the active ingredient safe to use?
Yes, Fever-Tree candles only repels, it does not harm. The active ingredient is non-toxic and can be used around food. Think of it as a scented candle that repels insects.
