To Use:
To Ignite/Reignite – Easily light in several ways:
1. Starter Pot – Place in a Setamono Starter Pot (available on Takealot separately or as part of a Hibachi Combo Kit) over your gas hob or open flame.
2. Chimney Starter - Place in a Chimney Starter using firelighters.
3. In The Fire – Mound Binchotan pieces directly on top of lit coals.
Grill - Burn time of 3+ hours, with minimal smoke and smell.
Extinguish – To reuse simply:
1. Transfer to a Setamono Extinguishing Pot (available on Takealot separately)
2. Dip in water and dry in the sun
3. Close all grill air vents and lid securely
Why braai with White Charcoal over Black (standard) Charcoal?
Long and consistent burn time - Binchotan boasts very long and clean-burning properties, and due to the extremely high carbon content and unique infrared nature of the heat, food grilled over Binchotan results in a much juicier texture and heightened flavours.
Smoke and odour-free - There is little to no smoke and the Binchotan charcoal is odourless when burning, so the flavour of the food is kept pure and what's more, there are minimal flare-ups. This, of course, all changes when you add fatty meat to the grill. Ventilation is always required.
Reusable - Depending on the length of your meal, Setamono White Binchotan is reusable between 2-4 times.
Sustainable - The Binchotan we source is 100% produced from Acacia and grown and processed in Africa. Due to Acacia being an invader species it is much more sustainably sourced than many other Binchotan Charcoals.
