The bmt gy-9960 is a compact ir-rgb gesture sensor module based on the apds-9960 chip. It enables touchless gesture control, ambient light sensing, color detection, and proximity sensing, making it ideal for interactive electronics, robotics, and iot projects.
This sensor module integrates the apds-9960 advanced optical sensing ic, which combines infrared gesture recognition with rgb color and ambient light measurement capabilities. It can detect simple hand gestures such as left, right, up, and down swipes within a range of approximately 10 to 20 cm.
The device uses four directional photodiodes along with built-in ir and uv blocking filters to ensure accurate gesture detection while minimizing environmental light interference. Communication is handled via an i2c interface, allowing easy integration with microcontrollers such as arduino, esp32, and raspberry pi.
Operating at 3.3v, the module is designed for low-power embedded applications. It also includes an interrupt pin for event-based detection, improving efficiency by reducing continuous polling.
