Former lead singer of The Boomtown Rats and renowned humanitarian Bob Geldof's fifth solo album is his first since 2001's 'Sex, Age & Death'. Lyrically the record is much more upbeat than a lot of Geldof's catalogue, both during and after his time with The Boomtown Rats, and deals with the themes of hope and love. 'How To Compose Popular Songs That Will Sell' was produced by long time Geldof collaborator Pete Briquette.
