312 Is a high tensile chromium-nickel steel electrode for welding carbon and low alloy steels to themselves or to stainless steels. Applications: Recommended for welding steels of unknown composition or strength as found in tools, dies, springs and machine parts. In many instances it can be used in place of 78MR to weld draw bars, hydraulic lift bars, etc. This is an universal type consumable which can weld a wide variety of steels and steel to stainless steel. It should not be used on cast iron.
