A nut replacement is one of the most simple but effective ways to improve the tone of your instrument.
Every guitar is different so you need to adjust the height by sanding the bottom of the nut on a flat surface with a piece of sand paper or on a belt sander. If your saddle height is too high you could have intonation issues, if it is too low you can have fret buzzing issues, please research how to get the correct height the nut/saddle
