Hannoverische Maschinenbau AG, founded in Hanover (Germany) in 1835 was known for the production of boilers, large engines, locomotives and so on, before approaching the automobile sector with a small rear-engined car, which gave way to more conventional models. Civilian production ceased in 1939 with the war and resumed in 1945. Hanomag continued to produce mostly tractors and trucks.
