frequency identification (RFID) technology,
proximity readers interface with a wide range of
electronic access control systems by complying
with the Wiegand communication protocol.
Additionally, proximity cards and tags are passive
devices and eliminate the need for maintenance
by requiring no batteries, and can be ordered to
support several proximity reader technologies.
