The internal battery becomes backup: cut the power and it keeps tracking and sends you a tamper alert.
On battery, life depends on how much you drive. A daily driver doing an hour or two: about a week. Mostly parked: two to five weeks. On the road most of the day: three to four days. Magnetic charging cable, no tools.
