The name Earl Grey pays tribute to Charles Grey, the Second Earl Grey and British Prime Minister in the early 19th century. The original recipe is believed to have been gifted to him during diplomatic exchanges. Its signature bergamot flavour became so beloved it was eventually commercialised, and today it stands as one of the world's most iconic tea profiles.
This Darjeeling variation adds a new dimension to the classic. It preserves the fresh, grassy character of first flush Darjeeling, enhanced by the fruity sharpness of Sicilian bergamot. A lighter, more aromatic interpretation for those who seek sophistication in every sip.
Serving suggestion:
We recommend brewing black tea with water at around 95 degrees Celsius. Steep the tea for approximately 3 minutes, then taste to see if the strength suits your preference. If you desire a stronger brew, you may steep it for another minute or two. Use a teapot with an infuser for best results. If a teapot is not available, an infuser ball, infuser cup, or a fine mesh strainer will also work well. For each serving, use about 3 to 4 grams of loose leaf tea, or roughly one teaspoon. This tea may be steeped a second time; simply extend the brewing time to draw out the remaining flavour.
