This rich and layered infusion brings together the tart vibrance of hibiscus with the earthy, chocolaty depth of roasted mesquite. Grown in the sun-drenched lands of the Great Karoo, natural mesquite pods are carefully harvested, baked, then roasted to unlock their natural sweetness and comforting notes of cocoa and caramel. When paired with hibiscus, a plant celebrated across Africa and the Middle East for its bold flavour and cooling properties, the result is a harmonious blend of brightness and warmth.
Hibiscus offers a fruity tang and deep red hue, while mesquite adds body, smoothness and a lingering finish. Both ingredients are traditionally valued for their nutrient content and their roles in natural wellness. Hibiscus is rich in antioxidants and often enjoyed to support circulation and digestion, while mesquite is known for its fibre, low glycaemic properties and rich mineral profile. Together, they create an infusion that not only delights the palate but also brings a sense of grounded energy to your day.
A caffeine free herbal tea with complexity and character, this is an ideal choice for those seeking both flavour and function in a daily ritual. Whether sipped slowly in the evening or enjoyed as a midday refreshment, it offers a balanced expression of Africa's botanical beauty.
Serving suggestion:
We recommend brewing herbal infusion with water at around 100 degrees Celsius. Steep the herbs for approximately 3 minutes, then taste to see if the strength suits your preference. If you desire a stronger brew, you may steep it for another minute or two. Use a teapot with an infuser for best results. If a teapot is not available, an infuser ball, infuser cup, or a fine mesh strainer will also work well. For each serving, use about 3 to 4 grams of herbs, or roughly one teaspoon. This infusion may be steeped a second time; simply extend the brewing time to draw out the remaining flavour.
