This rare 2007 vintage Pu-Erh hails from the ancient tea gardens of Yunnan Province. In the cool months of February and March, expert pickers hand harvest only the youngest buds and leaves from venerable tea trees that have stood for centuries. Those golden tips, visible even in their raw form, promise a depth of character unrivalled by ordinary teas.
Once picked, the leaves undergo a traditional post-fermentation process in humid mountain conditions. Over years of careful aging, the tea develops its signature golden-yellow buds and a deep red infusion. Each cup yields a rich, earthy aroma that evokes damp forest floors and moss-covered stones, followed by a smooth, lingering sweetness that pays tribute to its long journey.
This Pu-Erh carries the weight of history. Known as "Royal Pu-Erh," it was among the select teas reserved for imperial courts and diplomatic gifts. Generations of emperors and envoys savoured its unique blend of strength and subtlety, earning it names like Treasure Pu-Erh and Tribute Tea. Every sip connects you to those ceremonial moments of reverence and respect.
Beyond its storied past, this 2007 vintage offers a remarkable tasting experience. The texture is velvety yet bright, with layered notes of aged wood, dried fruit and a hint of camphor. Its energy is gentle but profound, a cup that seems to whisper ancient wisdom and invite quiet reflection.
Serving suggestion:
We recommend brewing Pu-Erh tea with water at around 100 degrees Celsius. Steep the tea for approximately 3 minutes, then taste to see if the strength suits your preference. If you desire a stronger brew, you may steep it for another minute or two. Use a teapot with an infuser for best results. If a teapot is not available, an infuser ball, infuser cup, or a fine mesh strainer will also work well. For each serving, use about 3 to 4 grams of loose leaf tea, or roughly one teaspoon. This tea may be steeped a second time; simply extend the brewing time to draw out the remaining flavour.
