Features:
- Type: Internal gear (gerotor/trochoid) oil pump.
- Drive: Directly driven by the crankshaft.
- Location: Mounted on the front of the engine block behind the crankshaft pulley and timing cover.
- Function:Draws engine oil from the oil pan through the pickup tube.
- Pressurizes the oil.
- Delivers oil to the crankshaft, connecting rod bearings, camshaft, hydraulic lifters (where applicable), timing chain, and other moving engine components.
- Contains a built-in pressure relief valve to prevent excessive oil pressure.
- Common Symptoms of a Worn Oil Pump
- Low oil pressure warning light.
- Knocking or ticking noise from the engine.
- Increased engine wear.
- Low oil pressure at idle.
- In severe cases, engine seizure due to lack of lubrication.

- If you're rebuilding or replacing the oil pump on a GA14 or GA16DE, it's also recommended to inspect:
- The oil pickup strainer for sludge.
- The front crankshaft oil seal.
- Timing chain and guides (since access is similar).
- Pump rotor clearances and housing wear if reusing the pump
