Our team of surfers has developed boardshorts particularly suited to surfing in warm water, for sessions lasting less than 1 hour.

What is a boardshort?
A boardshort is a pair of swim shorts and more commonly a style of swimwear for men and more recently, women. They were originally developed in the 1950s for surfing.
In recent years, they have become a popular form of swimwear.
The name "boardshorts" comes from their use in water sports that use a board, such as surfing.
How to choose your boardshorts?
For sessions less than 1 hour
If you surf for less than an hour, you will need a men's swimsuit that does not come down every time you go underwater. A short board can promote freedom of movement, is recommended for bodyboarding. The drying speed will be important enough to prevent sand from sticking to your men's boardshorts.

If you are more of a muscular type, with your trunk and legs, choose a short swimsuit that will highlight your figure.
If you are more of a slim and slender type, opt for a longer board short!

Held in the wave
When surfing, whether it's because of a duck or a "wipe out" it's not easy to have to reposition your men's boardshorts because they have slipped down to mid-buttocks... The choice of waistband then becomes essential. Choose an elasticated or semi-elasticated waistband with a drawstring or a flat waistband for better support.
Limiting irritations
This is probably the most important criterion. It is common for the friction of the boardshorts or their seams to irritate. Our boardshorts are designed, both in terms of the shapes offered and the assembly methods, to limit irritation as much as possible during practice time.
Drying speed
It is quite annoying to feel the sand sticking to your boardshorts because they are still soaked with water. For this, choose a "Stretch" component that evacuates water more quickly.
Length
The choice of length of your board short will depend mainly on your tastes. However, be aware that the shorter your swimsuit, the greater the freedom of movement. The 16-inch length corresponds to a length of 41 cm on the median size L
Pockets
The Hendaia boardshorts are equipped with a back pocket with an eyelet to effectively evacuate sand and water.
Belt
The Hendaia boardshorts are equipped with a fully elasticated waistband which will promote morphological adaptability as well as hold in the wave when falling into the waves.
Sun protection: The essential equipment for boardshorts
In summer, in hot weather, with the coolness of the water, surfers tend to extend their surfing sessions, without adapting their equipment. The risks of sunburn are therefore multiplied.

10 to 15% of UV rays are reflected on the water, while 40 to 95% penetrate 25 cm underwater. This is why board shorts combined with sun protection (UV top, etc.) become essential equipment for practising in warm water.
