Technical information
Sole grip
The grip of our soles is certified.
To benefit from it, the shoe must pass laboratory tests to evaluate the grip coefficient on different surfaces (smooth, rough, dry, wet).
To approve these tests, we then have the quality of our soles evaluated in the field, in the mountains, by a panel of child testers.
Waterproofing test
Tested in the laboratory and in use, the shoes ensure optimal waterproofing and breathability. First immersed in water under air pressure, we check the absence of bubbles on the surface of the shoe. Then they are placed, half submerged, on a mechanical arm simulating walking, we then check that the inside of the shoe remains perfectly dry. For this model the test lasted the equivalent of 8 km in the conditions mentioned above.
Extend waterproofing
The waterproofing of a shoe is often compromised by water getting in through the top of the shoe. To keep your feet dry for longer, it is therefore advisable to use a waterproof gaiter or mini-gaiter that will protect the top of the shoe from water getting in, but also from stones, sand, etc. It is advisable to use a re-waterproofing spray a few times a year to restore the original water repellency and combat external stains.
What size to choose?
For hiking, do not hesitate to take a size above your child's usual size. This will guarantee optimal comfort when going downhill and thus prevent their toes from hitting the stop of the shoe. Advice: keep their nails short and, before any descent, check that the Hook and Loop and/or the laces are properly tightened to prevent their foot from sliding towards the front of the shoe.
Buying advice
Have your child try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks used for hiking. Two comfort points need to be checked: the heel seat and the front of the foot when going downhill. Avoid any pressure points when trying them on. Have them gradually use the shoes during the first hikes to break them in to their feet.
Removable insole: Removable insole for faster drying. It can also be replaced with an orthopedic insole.
