With over 40 years of research and development, the Sally T. brand has always strived for excellence in all aspects of wellness.
Vitamin A is essential for a multitude of physiological processes and for maintaining health. Vitamin A acetate (the form in this product) is a cold water soluble, bioavailable form of the fat-soluble vitamin A know as retinol. Vitamin A is found in the animal kingdom and is common in liver, egg yolks, and butter.
Vitamin A in the form of carotenoids is available from plant sources, in the form of carotenes - including carrots (from which the name carotene is derived), spinach, and sweet potatoes. These carotenoids are then converted to retinol - the active form of vitamin A. If excess carotenoids are consumed and not processed by the liver, then the palms of the hands can go yellow.
Zinc is added to this formula because it is essential for vitamin A to be metabolised in the body. Hence it is beneficial to combine them. Vitamin A deficiency may occur when a person is zinc deficient.
Vitamin A for the skin:
It is necessary for maintaining healthy skin and mucous membranes. Since this tissue provides a barrier against infection, vitamin A is vital to the prevention of disease. It is important for wound healing.
Please note that if you are suffering from severe acne or skin lesions, seek the help of a health practitioner who may assist you with prescription forms of vitamin A.
Another way vitamin A assists the skin is by alleviating the effects of sunburn. It is known to calm the redness and discomfort.

Vitamin A and vision:
It is best known for its ability to maintain vision, especially night vision, assisting the eye in adjusting from bright light to darkness. It can also alleviate such specific eye complains as dry eye. Vitamin A helps maintains the health of the eyes, and is stored in the retina, where it is made available for rod cells to form a pigment critical in detecting low levels of light.
Immune system:
Vitamin A is also required in the development of white blood cells, a critical component of the immune system. For this reason, vitamin A is commonly called the anti-infective vitamin.
By boosting immunity vitamin A greatly strengthens resistance to infections, including sore throats, colds, flu and bronchitis. It may also combat cold sores and shingles (caused by the herpes virus), warts (a viral skin infection), eye infections and vaginal yeast infections
Suggested uses:
- Women, heavy menstrual periods, premenstrual syndrome
- Men, to raise their sperm count
- Improving vision and treating eye disorders
- Skin conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, cold sores, wounds, burns, sunburn
- Diseases of the nervous system
- Boosts the immune system
- Essential for red blood cell formation where it is incorporated into haemoglobin
- Regulation of gene expression which influence numerous physiological processes.
- Growth and development and is essential for correct embryonic and foetal development
