Tips for Using Self-Adhesive Vinyl
- Surface: Works best on smooth, clean, dry surfaces (glass, plastic, painted wood, metal)
- Transfer Tape: Use for transferring intricate designs easily (Essential for Intricate or Multi-Part Designs i.e Script fonts, layered graphics, business logos and signs with text alignment)
- Finish Type:
Glossy: Bright and eye-catching
How It Works When Using Transfer Tape:
- Cut your vinyl design using a machine like Cricut or Silhouette.
- Weed the excess vinyl (remove the parts you don't want).
- Place transfer tape over the design.
- Burnish (rub) it with a scraper or card to adhere the vinyl to the tape.
- Peel the backing off the vinyl - the design now sticks to the transfer tape.
- Position the tape with the design onto your project surface.
- Burnish again, then peel off the tape, leaving the vinyl perfectly placed
Example:
You cut the phrase "Hello Sunshine" in cursive vinyl. Without transfer tape, you'd have to stick each letter by hand and try to keep the flow and spacing. With transfer tape, it's one smooth peel and press.
