With an 18mm full-frame equivalent focal length, the lens supports landscape, street, indoor, and vlogging applications. The bright f/1.4 maximum aperture supports low-light shooting and selective focus control. Its optical design includes three aspherical elements and two SLD elements to reduce distortion, chromatic aberrations, and colour fringing while supporting improved sharpness. A stepping autofocus motor provides fast and reliable autofocus performance with reduced focus breathing for still photography and video recording. The lens also features an aperture ring, dust- and splash-resistant construction, and a water- and oil-repellent front coating.
