Cutting food helps children recognise and identify different foods and food groups, and using the knife teaches children early safety in the kitchen as well as hand-eye coordination.
Sharing the sliced food with others is a way to cultivate children's social skills and the importance of sharing.
Encourages role play and imagination and helps to develop fine motor skills.
