The Ultra Edge Axe & Saw is a versatile, compact multi-tool designed specifically for outdoor enthusiasts, making it an essential addition to any camping, hiking, or survival kit. Manufactured by Ultra-Edge, a brand renowned for its durable and practical outdoor gear, this 352mm (approximately 14-inch) tool combines the chopping power of an axe with the precision-cutting ability of a saw, all in a lightweight, easy-to-carry package. It's particularly popular in South Africa where it's praised for its reliability in rugged conditions.
Dual-Function Design: The primary axe head features a sharp, satin-finish blade ideal for splitting firewood, clearing brush, or light chopping tasks. The heel of the axe doubles as a hammer, adding extra utility for driving tent stakes or light pounding without needing additional tools.
Integrated Saw: A fold-out or removable saw blade is housed within the handle, perfect for tackling thicker branches or logs that are too bulky for the axe alone. This makes it a true all-in-one solution for campsite preparation.
Ergonomic Handle: Crafted from molded, high-visibility green plastic or composite material, the handle ensures a firm, non-slip grip even in wet or muddy conditions. Its bright color enhances visibility in dense foliage or low-light scenarios, reducing the risk of misplacement during adventures.
Included Accessories: Comes complete with a protective nylon sheath for safe transport and storage, plus a built-in fire starter (often a ferro rod or striker) to help ignite tinder quickly-ideal for getting your campfire going in minutes.
Compact and Portable: Measuring just 352mm in length and weighing under 1kg (based on similar models), it's backpack-friendly without sacrificing strength. The forged steel construction promises longevity, with users reporting it holds an edge through repeated use.
This tool shines in backcountry settings where space and weight are at a premium. Campers appreciate its ability to process firewood efficiently, while hikers use it for trail maintenance or emergency shelter building. The fire starter adds a survival edge, making it suitable for bushcraft enthusiasts. Reviewers highlight its balance-light enough for all-day carry but robust for demanding tasks-and note that the sheath's belt loop allows for quick access on the hip.
It excels in recreational use, with minimal maintenance required-just occasional sharpening of the blade.
If you're gearing up for your next outdoor escape, the Ultra Edge Axe & Saw stands out for its thoughtful design that packs multiple functions into one reliable tool. It's built to withstand the elements, backed by Ultra-Edge's reputation for quality, and offers peace of mind with its safety-focused features. Whether you're a weekend warrior or a seasoned adventurer, this multi-tool will elevate your setup without weighing you down.
