Hearing aids are wonderful inventions and make a difference in the lives of millions across the globe. Yet there are those who do not find satisfaction with these gadgets, not even with the more pricey ones. Fortunately there is company in the USA, Williams Sound, who understands these people. For many years they have been producing the Pocketalker which they have been improving over the years. We have the privilege to present you with the latest model, the Pocketalker 2.0.

The Pocketalker 2.0, like its predecessors, is a small amplifier that receives and audio signal via a microphone, it amplifies this signal and sends the output to some headphones or earphones. The secret is in the simplicity! What is in the little box that we call the amplifier? A few things:

  1. It contains the amplifier which is able to amplify the sound without adding extra noise. (Technically it is call an amplifier with a very good signal-to-noise ratio.)

  2. There is also a built in microphone. That means that you can use either the built in microphone or an external one if that is required. By the way, part of the success of the Pocketalker is the quality of this little microphone. You do not simply get sound, you get clarity. It make a huge difference!

  3. There is still more technology built into this box. It has an audio loop receiver. What is this? Audio loops are becoming more and more common since legislation that was passed 2015 that hearing disabled persons has a right to insist on this in public places. So, more and more churches, theatres, class rooms, lounges, court rooms and many other places are equipped with an audio loop. It consists of a cable being run on the perimeter of the room that creates a magnetic field that more hearing aids can pick up. This is the telecoil function. Now the Pocketalker 2.0 can also pick up that signal and you can hear the speaker or music without the interference of background noise.

Some people have called this little apparatus a real life changer. It is for the person who prefers not to use hearing aids or who does not manage to adapt to hearing aids for whatever reason. It comes at a fraction of the price of hearing aids and yet is one of the best hearing helps that you can find. The two AAA batteries are very easy to obtain at most supermarkets and it will give you hours and hours of trouble free listening. It can even be used with rechargeable batteries. Those batteries are not included, though. Operating Time of up to 105 hours on 2 AAA alkaline batteries.
