This process was first developed by NASA for use aboard the Apollo spacecraft, which was bound for the moon, in order to maintain pure drinking water. How It Works
While the solar ionizar is floating in the water, solar panel, made with the latest technology converts sunlight into electricity. This low-voltage electrical current, which is completely harmless, gives energy to a metal electrode of a special alloy that is below the waterline. This causes the release of mineral ions into the surrounding water. Now, ionized water efficiently controls microorganism growth in your pool. Some contaminants in your pool such as dust, suntan lotion, body fluids etc. are not affected by minerals. An accumulation of these things tend to cloud the water, and therefore requires a minimal amount of chlorine to dissolve them to maintain crystal clear water.

The Solar Pool ionizer Sun Shock water purifier is the only purifier that, in addition to generating beneficial mineral ions, collects undesirable minerals such as calcium and iron. This has the effect of softening your water. The sacrificial mineral electrode is designed to slowly erode away, and in the process will form a scale buildup which will require occasional cleaning. One Sun Shock (per 35,000 gallons or less pools) will keep your pool free from algae. (You will need 2 if your pool is above 35k gallons). Reduce your chlorine consumption by as much as 80%.

Note: While Chemical-Free Sun Shock is extremely effective in killing algae and keeping your pool crystal clear, we recommend using a small (2 to 3 parts per million) of sanitizer to keep your pool microbe-free.
