An intake manifold check valve, also known as a non-return valve, is a valve that allows air flow in one direction but prevents it from flowing back in the opposite direction. In an engine, this valve is strategically placed to prevent positive pressure, such as from boost pressure, from entering the crankcase, which can lead to issues like gasket failure and oil leaks. It also allows blow-by gases from the crankcase to be drawn back into the intake manifold and recirculated through the cylinders.
