Bleeding Leader Wire made by American Fishing Wire is 7 high strength stainless steel wires stranded together and coated in blood red nylon. This was the world's first nylon coated leader wire, designed to resist all types of toothy fish.

The red colour mimics blood in surface conditions and in deep water conditions, the colour red is filtered out faster than other colours and thus vanishes to fish.
