EarPlanes are a specific type of valved pressure-reducing earplug designed to help regulate air pressure changes during air travel, particularly during takeoff and landing. They are especially useful for people who experience ear pain, popping, or discomfort due to pressure changes in flight, including those with sinus issues, colds, or allergies.
What Are EarPlanes?
- Valved earplugs made of soft silicone with a built-in CeramX filter.
- The valve slows the pressure change on your eardrum, giving your ears time to equalize more naturally.
- Designed for airplane use, but sometimes used in high-altitude driving or pressure-sensitive environments.
How to Use EarPlanes Properly:
- Insert before takeoff and landing
Insert them before the cabin door closes for takeoff.
Reinsert or keep them in during descent, usually about 45 minutes before landing. - Wash your hands before handling the earplugs.
- Insert like a foam earplug:
Gently pull the top of your ear up and back to straighten the ear canal.
Twist the EarPlane in gently until it seals the ear (not deep, just enough for a snug fit).
Make sure the filter (valve) is facing outward. - Wear them throughout ascent/descent.
You can remove them once the plane reaches cruising altitude and after full landing when the cabin has depressurized. - Reuse or replace:
EarPlanes are usually single-use per round-trip flight (some versions say they can be used up to 5 times, but performance may degrade). Smaller size and childrens ears. - Safe to use from 8 months onwards.
