IONN released a rewireable plug that conforms to the new South African SANS 164-2 standard. The plug has a slim design and a straight cable exit direction. It is called the CM1 and provides enhanced safety features and enables three times the installation density compared to the old style South African plugs. To use this new style plug and get the related benefits you need to ensure that the wall socket also conforms to the new style.

The CM1 plug is easy to wire and can accommodate 3-core cables with a cord diameter up to 11mm. The CM1 plug has the necessary test certificate required by the SABS/NRCS to allow this plug to be legally sold in South Africa.
The CM1 plug has solid brass pins and is made from thick and durable plastic and has two gripping mechanisms making it easy to remove and install the plugs into matching wall sockets.
