How to choose your anti-UV t-shirt? (Part 1)
All our anti-UV t-shirts are UPF50+, which means they have the maximum level of sun protection.
The choice will therefore be made on the length of the sleeves and will depend on the type of stresses during practice. It is in the practice of surfing that the constraints are the strongest, so we have decided to build our range as a priority for surfing.
For surfing, the choice will be made according to the duration of your sessions: 1 hour, 2 hours or 3 hours.

How to choose your anti-UV t-shirt? (Part 2: Depending on the duration of the session)
1 hour: Occasional practice. You can choose between a loose fit (priority to ease of donning and dry comfort) or a fitted cut (priority to wet comfort). A buckle system to connect to the shorts provides stability to the product.
2 hours: Regular practice. Wet comfort is enhanced by the seamless panels under the arms and the drawstring that further increases stability.
3 hours: Intensive practice. Added thermal insulation to last longer in the water.

Protects against UV rays even when wet.
The fabric that makes up this OLAIAN anti-UV product blocks at least 98% of UVB and 95% of UVA (UPF 50+). This guarantees effective protection against the sun. It can be used in and out of the water for water and aquatic sports. UV filtration is generated by the density of the textile fibers, this protection lasts over time, even after washing. Be careful, the elastane contained in the fiber can deteriorate in chlorinated water.

What does UPF 50+ mean?
UPF is a sun protection index (Ultra Violet Protection Factor) standardized and regulated worldwide. It defines the level of protection of the textile and more precisely the proportion of UV transmission. In order to meet the standards, it must block at least 95% of UV rays. UPF 50+ means that the textile blocks at least 95% of UVA and 98% of UVB rays.

Limiting irritations
This anti-UV t-shirt limits friction and irritations related to contact with the surfboard or bodyboard. It can also be used under a wetsuit to limit irritations, particularly at the neck and armpits. The limitation of irritations related to paddling movements is validated for one-hour sessions. If you plan to surf for more than an hour, the choice of the UV 500 top will be more suitable thanks to the seamless panels under the arms.

Wave support and holding system
This anti-UV top has a loop at the front to pass the drawstring of the swimming shorts to prevent the top from riding up during practice. This solution is recommended for sessions of up to 1 hour. Beyond an hour we recommend choosing the UV 500 top which also has a drawstring at the hips to ensure better stability. The untimely ride-up of the top could indeed cause irritation in the lower abdomen.

Thermality and wind
The minimum water temperature recommended for using this anti-UV t-shirt is 22 C. The air temperature can influence this recommendation upwards or downwards.
Our thermal models (beyond 2 hours) are made of either fleece, neoprene, or both. The presence of wind will have an impact that can be annoying as soon as the wind exceeds 15 km/h: In this case, choose a model with neoprene.

Behavior in the face of the sun
Although this t-shirt provides protection from the sun, phenomena such as reflection (on water, sand, etc.), heat, time of day, etc. must be taken into account. Wearing this t-shirt does not exempt you from following appropriate behaviors: wearing sunglasses, wearing a hat or cap, regularly applying suitable sunscreen, drinking regularly, etc.

Approved by
All sun protection components are tested in the laboratory by our engineers. They meet the current standard: EN 13758-2. We carry out tests on the materials used, before launching any production. We also have our own measuring equipment which complements the external laboratory tests. The products are tested in the laboratory wet and dry, as well as in real use during practice (with induced stretching in use).
