Care and Maintenance:

• Dust with a soft dry brush, working around the boom joints and between the wheels where it collects. Do not use water, sprays or cleaning products, since moisture swells plywood and loosens friction-fit joints.
• Move the boom slowly and support it with a second hand. Repeatedly swinging a friction-fit joint at speed wears the timber and the arm will eventually stop holding position.
• Keep the finished model out of direct sunlight and away from damp. Both warp thin timber and a warped pivot will bind.
• Ease parts together rather than forcing them. Check orientation against the diagram before applying pressure, because thin plywood tabs snap rather than bend.
• If you plan to stain, paint or varnish, do it before assembly and let every part dry fully. Keep coating off the moving joint surfaces entirely, or the boom will seize.
