An Introduction to Retro England Rugby T-Shirt
The Retro England Rugby T-Shirt TripleBlue Sky is inspired by the great England winger Cyril Nelson Kit Lowe.
Cyril Lowe earned blues for Cambridge University in 1911, 1912 and 1913 making him arare Triple-Blue. He also kicked a dropped-goal in the last game, by whichtimehe was already a full international. His debut for England cameagainst South Africa in 1913 at Twickenham. It was an exceptional yearfor Lowe and the EnglandRugby team as they completed their first everGrand Slam.
Further, in 1914Cyril Lowescored a total of eight international tries across the season. It became arecord that has never been eclipsed. These included three againstScotland inEdinburgh. And another three against France in Paris in a game thatdelivered England a second consecutive Grand Slam.
At club level, after leaving Cambridge, Lowe played for and Captainedthe Blackheath club.
Lowes sporting career was interrupted by the outbreak of hostilities in 1914.He returned to play for England in 1920. When he retiredfrom international rugby in1923 he had gained 25 caps. He scored a totalof 18 tries. This remained an English record until it was equalled. Andlater surpassed by another legendary RoyalAirForce pilotRory Underwoodin 1989.
He played in fourGrand Slam-winning sides until his retirement in 1923. In1913 and 1914 he won back-to-back Five Nation Grand Slams.
