Lactic Acid is an Alpha-Hydroxy-Acid (AHA) used to lightly exfoliate skin and improve skin tone and texture. This 80% Lactic acid solution can be used in homemade DIY exfoliating products at customised concentrations for your skin type.

Benefits:
– Water-soluble liquid
– Reduces the appearance of fine lines, irregular pigmentation, age spots and decreases enlarged pores
– Used in exfoliating products as AHA peels, or in creams and lotions at a lower concentration for a gentler acid-based peel
– Rejuvenates skin by encouraging the shedding of old skin cells
– Discontinue use if irritation occurs

How to use the product:
The typical use level is between 1-20% as the final concentration of Lactic acid. It is not recommended to make AHA peels higher than 20%.
Similar to Glycolic acid, the use of Lactic acid peels should be restricted to 1-2 times per week only. You may experience some tingling, stinging, or irritation while your skin adjusts to Lactic acid. It’s best to use lower levels of Lactic acid at the beginning and increase the amount as your skin develops tolerance. You will experience skin peeling with higher levels of Lactic acid and these should not be left onto the skin. Recommended not to use higher levels of 10-20% in DIY products.

Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen (SPF 30 and above) and limit sun exposure while using this product.

Important: Do not use this Lactic acid solution pure and undiluted; the solution is highly acidic and can lead to severe skin irritation and burns.

Application: Peels, creams, lotions, masks, cleansers. Due to its acidity, the final product needs to be tested for safe pH, optimal range from 3.5-4.5. The addition of Lactic acid to some skincare products may cause instability due to its low pH.
Lactic acid can be paired with other ingredients like Niacinamide, Kojic acid, Glycolic acid, Salicylic acid, Vitamin C, Glutathione, and Alpha Arbutin.

Storage: Store in cool and dark areas. External use only.

Our products should not be used as a substitute for medical skincare, self-medication or to treat any form of health condition. You should always consult your dermatologist before changing your skincare regime.
