Glycolic Acid is the most active and beneficial of the Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids (AHA) in skin care and is made from sugar canes. It is the only AHA which is able to penetrate through the cell walls by virtue of its small molecular size. This 99.5% powder can be used in homemade DIY exfoliating products at customised concentrations for your skin type.

Benefits:
– Water soluble powder which is easily dispersible
– Reduces appearance of fine lines, irregular pigmentation, age spots and decreases enlarged pores
– Used in exfoliating products as alpha-hydroxy acid peel, or in creams and lotions at a lower concentration for a gentler acid-based peel
– Rejuvenates the skin by encouraging the shedding of old skin cells
– Discontinue use if irritation occurs

How to use product:
Typical use level is between 1-20% as final concentration of glycolic acid. It is not recommended to make AHA peels higher than 20%. Use of glycolic acid peels should be restricted to 1-2 times per week only. You may experience some tingling, stinging or irritation while your skin adjusts to glycolic acid. It’s best to use less glycolic acid powder at the beginning and increase the amount as your skin develops a tolerance. You will experience skin peeling with higher levels of Glycolic acid powder and these should not be left onto skin. Recommended not to use higher levels of 10-20% in DIY products.

Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use sunscreen (SPF 30 and above) and limit sun exposure while using this product.

Glycolic acid can be mixed with Niacinamide, Vitamin C, Kojic Acid, Kojic Acid Dipalmitate, Lactic Acid and Alpha Arbutin.

Important: Do not use glycolic acid pure and undiluted; the solution is highly acidic and can lead to skin irritation and skin burns.

Application: Peels, creams, lotions, masks, cleansers. Due to it’s acidity the final product needs to be tested for safe pH, optimal range from 3.5-4.5. Addition of glycolic acid to some skincare products may cause instability due to its low pH.

Storage: Store in cool and dark areas. External use only.

Our products should not be used as a substitute for medical skincare, self-medication or to treat any form of health condition. You should always consult your dermatologist before changing your skincare regime.
