FAQ
Can I leave the Power Station plugged in during load shedding?
The 300w, 600w and 1000w Power Stations need to be unplugged from the wall socket during load shedding. Once electricity resumes the Power Station can be plugged back in, if it requires charging. The reason Power Stations should not be left plugged in during load shedding, is that there can be an electricity surge when the power comes back on, which can permanently damage the unit.
Should I use a surge protector plug?
We recommend using a surge protection plug as there are electrical surges when the power comes back on, after load shedding. This can permanently damage the battery. The plug will therefore provide some protection if the Power Station was plugged in charging and load shedding occurs when you are out.
How many hours will I be able to use my Power Station for?
This will be dependent on the size of Power Station purchased, the number of devices being plugged in and the total wattage of the items plugged in. Please visit www.choetech.co.za for a guide on what type of devices can be used, and estimated hours of usage per Power Station. As an estimate you can also use the following formula: Hours = (Power Station Wh/Total Watts)x85%
Will I damage the battery if the Battery Level indicator reaches 0% before recharging?
No, the battery level indicator can reach 0% without impacting the battery life cycle.
Must the Power Station always be 100% at the start of load shedding, or before use?
No. You can still use the Power Station if it is below 100%, but this will impact the amount of hours that you can use it for.
My Power Station is charged but the display or ports are not working. What must I do?
There are 4 buttons on the Power station commonly labelled LCD, USB, DC and AC. These buttons need to be switched on for the display or ports to work. For example when you want to use the USB ports you press the USB button and a light turns on. The USB port will now be active.
Why does the Power Station make a sound when I use it?
The Power Station uses an air-cooling system, and the built-in fan helps the product from getting too hot. It is normal to have a slight noise when being used.
Can the Power Station be stored outside?
No, The unit should be stored inside in a cool, dry location. Do not expose your unit to extreme temperatures or moisture.
Will the Power Station be able to jump start a car?
No. The Power Station is not the appropriate voltage to jump start a standard lead acid vehicle battery.
Can I connect multiple Power Stations together?
No. It is not recommended for our Choetech models.
