The DGS (Grade 2) Glass Filter Media is an activated filter media that offers several benefits compared to traditional sand or other filter media commonly used in water filtration systems. This Grade 1 filter media offers superior water filtration through it's higher quality construction, higher level of grain uniformity and smaller particle size than lower grades of filter media.
DGS (Grade 2) Glass Filter Media is a direct replacement for sand, doubling the performance of sand filters without the need of additional investments in infrastructure. DGS resists biofouling, biocoagulation and transient wormhole channeling of unfiltered water and never needs to be recharged or replaced.
DGS is a filtration media made from 100% recycled glass in Dryden Aqua’s ultra-sophisticated glass factories. In contrast to AFM, DGS is made from mixed glass and it is not subjected to any activation process. DGS allows ultra-fine purely mechanical filtration while suffering a lot less from bacterial clogging than sand. The Dryden Glass Sand Filter Media is an inert amorphous aluminosilicate (glass) made through the eco-friendly process of recycling used green and brown glass bottles. DGS glass particles have a self sterilising surface, inhibit biofouling and reduce bacterial growth in your system and offer overall superior filtration to that of other glass (or sand) medias. DGS glass media is able to efficiently remove fats, oils and other hydrocarbons as well as other unwanted organic particles and microplastics in your water.
Glass media has a higher surface area compared to sand, allowing for more effective filtration of particulate matter and impurities from your water. This enhanced filtration efficiency leads to overall cleaner and purer water. Glass filter media is highly durable and resistant to degradation, compared to sand media, resulting in a longer lifespan enabling you to less frequently replace your filter media and lower your maintenance costs over time. Glass filter media is resistant to chemicals commonly used in the water treatment processes, such as chlorine, bromine, and other sanitizers.
Advantages:
– Can improve the performance of an existing sand filtration system without the need for additional investments
– Is not subject to biodynamic instability and will never allow untreated water to pass the filter
– Clearer water and reduced chemical consumption: removes up to 30% more particles than sand.
– Less chlorine smells: DGS reduces the formation of trichloramines in the filter for a healthier atmosphere in swimming pools.
– Less backwash water: DGS needs shorter and slower backwashes than sand (240 seconds to evacuate 99% of retained particles at 45 m/hr)
– Stable performance and longer lifespan: DGS has less efficiency loss over a complete filtration cycle and 2 times greater longevity than sand.
– Provides quick return on investment
