The additional muzzle guard means the muzzle can also be used to prevent food scavenging and wound licking.

Why is plastic a good idea? Compared to a fabric-based muzzle, the plastic creates a cage around the dog’s mouth and nose area which give it a bit more space to breathe and pant freely. Plastic is also much lighter on the dog’s face. Imagine restricting a dog who is already stressed with something tighter and heavier.
