POLISHING TOO QUICKLY / SLOWLY Polishing can get incredibly boring, which usually leads us to speeding up the polishing process. However, this could lead to poor results. The same goes for Polishing too slowly, this usually leads to cutting through certain areas. Finding a nice, even pace is the best way to achieve good results.
TOO MUCH PRESSURE Using more pressure makes the process feel like it is being sped up. When in actuality it is causing swirls, cutting through Paint and creating uneven surfaces. Using the right pad and the weight of the actual tool is prefered, creating a smooth, gliding motion to help get you those perfect results.
ANGLING THE POLISHER Polishers are meant to be used with a flat motion on a flat surface. Using it like an angle grinder is a very common mistake. Doing this usually results in cutting the paint as well as uneven use on the Pad. Which could possibly lead to you damaging the backing pad.
START ON, STOP OFF This is a simple method that helps many people avoid swirl marks. Avoid starting the Polisher before it is applied to the surface, and avoid stopping it whilst still working on the surface. This helps make good contact. |
