Temperature Sensor IC, Digital, ± 2°C, -50 °C, 1600 °C, NSOIC, 8 Pins
Product Overview
The MAX31855SASA+ is a cold junction compensated thermocouple to digital converter in 8 pin NSOIC package. This is a “S” type sophisticated thermocouple to digital converter with a built-in 14bit analogue to digital converter (ADC) also contains cold junction compensation sensing and correction, a digital controller, an SPI compatible interface (read only) and associated control logic. The function of the thermocouple is to sense a difference in temperature between two ends of the thermocouple wires and it has a signal-conditioning hardware to convert the thermocouple’s signal into a voltage compatible with the input channels of the ADC. The device is designed to work in conjunction with an external microcontroller (µC) in thermostatic, process-control or monitoring applications.
Supply voltage range is 3V to 3.6V
Operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C
Measured temperature range of -50°C to +1600°C
Integration reduces design time and lowers system cost
Detects thermocouple shorts to GND or VCC
Detects open thermocouple
Thermocouple temperature data resolution is 0.25°C
Temperature gain & offset error (9.587µV/°C nominal sensitivity) is ±2°C at TA = -20°C to +85°C
Applications
Sensing & Instrumentation, Industrial, Automotive
