Ashwagandha is a herb which originated in India over 3000 years ago. Its botanical name is Withania somnifera, but is also commonly known as Indian ginseng, poison gooseberry, or winter cherry. It is a plant in the Solanaceae or nightshade family. Though used for a variety of medical issues, one of the best known is the reduction of cortisol levels in periods of stress.
Suggested uses:
– May assist with reducing stress hormone levels.
– If stress in our lives is only occasional, and we take adequate time for rest, relaxation and sleep to restore cortisol and stress hormones, then occasional stress cortisol release will not be a problem. But, if we live a typical modern Western lifestyle, we are subject to chronic stress, with inadequate nutrition, rest, relaxation and sleep, and are subject to chronic excessive cortisol levels.
– Can assist with getting a good night s sleep.
Directions:
1 to 2 Capsules per day when under stress or feeling anxious or as directed by your health professional. (Best taken half an hour before going to sleep as it may cause drowsiness.)
