Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Nikon F

The Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary or as Sigma calls it, the Light Bazooka, is a fullframe 100-400mm ultra-telephoto zoom lens. The Sigma 100-400 contemporary zoom lens is lightweight, compact; and features four SLD glass elements for superb image quality, and an advanced Optical image stabilisation system to help you consistently shoot sharp images when photographing handheld.

A minimum focus distance of 160cm and 100-400 focal length makes the lens is highly versatile and suitable for subjects like sports, nature, birding, wildlife, select portrait styles, documentary, events, and other telephoto subjects.

This lens model features a full-frame Nikon F mount to make it compatible with Nikon’s FX full-frame and DX cropped sensor DSLR cameras.

New optical stabilizer (OS) with exclusive algorithm

Featuring a newly developed gyroscopic sensor and a new and exclusive algorithm, the all-new OS unit provides a powerful stabilization effect. An acceleration sensor detects camera shake in any direction—horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. This technology allows the OS to stabilize the image very effectively, regardless of whether the camera is being held in horizontal or vertical orientation.

 

Four SLD glass elements

Four SLD glass elements offers ultra-low dispersion, high transmittance and the anomalous dispersion characteristics of fluorite to reduce chromatic aberrations; giving exceptional image quality.

 

Super multi-layer coating

A Super multi-layer coating on the lens greatly reduces flare, ghosting, and provides high-contrast for outstanding image quality.

 

New hypersonic focus motor (HSM) with updated algorithm

A new hypersonic focus motor (HSM) with an updated algorithm provides fast and near silent autofocus. A focus limiter also aids focusing speed by reducing the chances of close focus hunting.

 

Push/pull zoom mechanism incorporated

The Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary lens features a push/pull zoom mechanism in addition to the regular twist mechanism. This provides quick zoom control to give photographers an even better chance of getting that crucial shot.

 

Upgrade or fine tune the lens firmware with the Sigma USB dock (Not included)

The 100-400mm Contemporary like all other art and C (Contemporary) lenses are compatible with Sigma’s USB Dock. By syncing the lens and dock with a internet connected PC the lens’s firmware can be upgraded to support the latest DSLR’s ,or AF can be fine tuned to suit your needs.
