Xiu Chun Dao (Sword) is a type of curved sword wielded by the Jinyi Royal Guards, the imperial secret police that served the emperors of the Ming dynasty of China (1368 to 1644 AD)
This modern day replica sword is made of MN65 steel. 65Mn high carbon steel is a widely used Chinese steel with many applications, more prevalently for making swords and knives. It is the steel we prefer on our handmade weapon grade swords. With a hardness of 58 HRc (28 to 34 HRc in its raw form) on the Rockwell hardness scale, 65Mn steel is ideal for making resilient blades. 65Mn is recognized as one of the toughest steels with many uses, from making knife blades to shock absorbers to various tools and instruments. As 65Mn steel has many applications, it is categorized as spring steel.
