Notes: The central grip portion of a dumbbell or barbell can range in diameter from 2 cm to 5 cm. Dumbbells are often 2.5 cm in diameter, while many training barbells and most Olympic barbells are 2.8 cm in diameter. Lifting grips are designed to widen the bar diameter of this standard and narrower bars to an effective width of 5 cm – the size of the widest available Olympic barbells.
