100% Lemon Essential Oil Combo | 3 x 50ml | Slow Dropper Cap

The oil is South African produced from properly matured, sound, clean fruit by physical cold pressed extraction. It contains no added sugar, colorants, other fruit oil or any foreign matter.

Most essential oils (EOs) are distilled with a combination of water and steam – to preserve the aromatic botanical goodness that citrus peels possess; this oil is prepared using cold pressed extraction instead. Before the lemons enter the juice production process, oil is extracted from the peel by running them over rollers with needles. The needles pierce the oil-containing cells in the peel, releasing the oil. Pressurised water washes the oil from the peel and is collected. The water and oil are then separated by means of filters and centrifugal separation, yielding 100% pure lemon peel oil (i.e., essential oil).

Areas of application include food, medicine, cosmetic and perfumes, detergent, aromatherapy, pathogen inhibition, and insect control.

In food and beverages, it can be used to delay spoilage due to its antimicrobial properties e.g., adding it to your avocado to extend fridge life. This also adds the citrus aroma that we all enjoy! Which is also why lemon peel oil can be used as an alternative to spice and herbs e.g., enrich your olive oil by adding a few drops (to taste). For drinks, add 2-3 drops to your favourite beverage giving it a fresh, lemony bite.

Application in aromatherapy and the medical field is extensive with many studies referring to the beneficial effects (x). Namely, antidepressant and reduced anxiety. The pathogen inhibition properties also make lemon oil effective for acne control and treatment of various infections.
For cosmetic benefits, add 1-2 drops to your other night-time beauty routine oils and creams.

As a detergent, the oil can be used as a suitable eco-friendly alternative to traditional products – due to the natural antifungal and antibacterial properties found within.
Lemon peel oil has also been found to be effective against mosquito larvae, housefly larvae and lice. Indoor use as a vapour produces the greatest results. Pouring lemon oil in your outdoor water tank will also prevent mosquito larvae formation. Being less dense than water, lemon oil will float in your water tank and form a layer that prevents the formation of larvae.

Lemon essential oil is not actually an oil as we usually know it. Instead, it is a mixture of a large variety of organic compounds. The mixture is not soluble in water, same as common cooking oil, hence the name ‘oil’.
