The reel you have come to know and love, has been redesigned and upgraded. With a single piece aluminium Monocoque (MQ) body, the Saltist MQ Spinning Reel is now better equipped than ever to take on the rigors of South African saltwater fishing.

The single piece Monocoque (MQ) body takes reel design to the next level and eliminates the need for screws to hold a body cover in place. The MQ body not only improves the strength of the reel, but it also improves the water-resistance of the body and allows a larger diameter drive gear to be installed.

The Saltist MQ body houses the new larger diameter Tough Digigear. Designed to transfer all of the power delivered through the handle to your line, this ultimately stops fish in their tracks.

The reel utilising a Zaion AIR ROTOR, the rotation is effortless allowing you to cast and retrieve all day with ease.

Daiwa’s innovative tubular hollow Air Bail features on the Saltist MQ, delivering maximum rigidity and strength with minium weight. The result is an improvement in the line management and line flow back into the line roller for unmatched performance with even the lightest braids.

With a Magsealed Roller Clutch bearing on the main shaft combined with the MQ body and extra seals, the Saltist MQ is one of the most weather resistant reels that Daiwa has ever produced.

The spool has a slight chamfer that allows the line to seemingly fall off without getting hung up. This leads to longer casts ideal get your bait out past the breakers or throwing lures into a crazy boil where a few extra meters could be the difference between getting it in the strike zone or not.

All Saltist MQ models are fitted with the Daiwa’s Aluminium Round Knob (ARK). The knob is designed to maximise your grip, providing exceptional winding smoothness and stability with minimum weight.
