Brewing your own beer doesnât have to be expensive or complicated. This kit will make it easy, safe and rewarding.
The kit contains everything you need to make 4+ liters of our signature Grain Bucket âPailâ Ale beer in your kitchen. This beer is a light, delicious, session beer based on the Pale Ale style. It’s fairly dry, but with a full mouthfeel and a very subtle biscuit aftertaste that is combined with a possible hint of caramel. Itâs slightly more bitter than commercial beer, with a citrus/red-berry hop, but not overpoweringly so. Overall the ingredients have been specifically chosen to create something familiar to the South African beer drinker.

Common Questions:
How much alcohol is in the beer the kit makes?
This depends on how well you follow the recipe, but for the ‘Pail’ Ale you should between 4.4% and 5.8% ABV.
How long does it take?
Minimum 10 days. You need 3-4 hours on the first âBrew Dayâ and about one hour a week later on âBottling Dayâ. Your beer spends 4 to 7 days between Brew Day and Bottling Day fermenting in its fermentor and it spends 6 to 7 days in bottles, after Bottling Day, naturally carbonating and conditioning.
Am I allowed to brew my own beer?
Yes, you can brew at home for personal consumption. Brewing is actually an important part of South African heritage. You may not, however, sell the beer you brew – that requires licenses.
Isnât making beer difficult?
Nope. It is a little time-consuming though. People like you have been brewing beer for thousands of years. And for most of that time, they didn’t have access to your clean kitchen, accurate stove or Internet. With one of our kits, you can easily craft your own beer at home!
Can I brew multiple kits at the same time?
Yes. That is a great idea. It takes roughly the same amount of time to brew multiple batches in the same pot as it takes to brew one. You just need to ensure that you have a pot that is large enough.
